Remote online commissioning, a huge success for Swift-Cut
Chances are, you’ve seen some of Swift-Cut customer KJE Technical Ltd’s work. For 20 years, KJE has been designing and delivering special effects to the live events industry. Everything from Glastonbury festival to Nike advertising campaigns, KJE is the go-to for event organisers looking for next level special effects.
The business of creating special effects is multi-faceted, with a real onus on quality and safety, everything from structure to electrics. Building a safe electrical control panel is imperative to their final product, but for KJE it was a job that had to be outsourced and therefore, it was a time-consuming element of the process.
How did they find Swift-Cut?
They decided that bringing this element in-house would be a real benefit to their business – they were keen to offer their clients a more flexible and fully in-house service. The desire to diversify in the near-future was also a key part of their decision process – having in-house capabilities in place for when the time comes was a huge tick in the ‘Pro’ box.
Having talked to several colleagues who already owned Swift-Cut tables and impressed by what he could get for his money, the choice of what machine to choose was the only decision director of KJE, Kevin England had left to make.
He decided that the Swift-Cut Pro 1250 was exactly what KJE needed, mainly due to the sturdy design and the quality of cut. They were not disappointed, the time saved has been extraordinary – even the work they were doing in-house with a router is being done in less than a quarter of the time and not having to outsource has saved weeks.
Online commissioning, a success!
“At first when this was offered this I was a little sceptical as to how good it would be, is normally I prefer one2one training. I was completely wrong. It was brilliant!”
Luckily for KJE, the option of online commissioning is available which meant they were up and running despite the restrictions other companies are facing. Because Swift-Cut machines are so easy to learn, in-person commissioning is not always necessary. Kevin liked the pace at which they were able to learn, he said he ‘felt more relaxed without someone looking over my shoulder’. All his questions were answered immediately and with great knowledge by the Swift-Cut engineer and Kevin has not felt at any point that he has missed out on any part of the Swift-Cut buying journey.
In fact, Kevin agreed that online commissioning of equipment might be the new normal for some time now, and that it should only be seen as a positive change.
